Introduction

These tutorials are currently in preparation, so will change radically over time. I am attempting to include them in an overall structure that includes other courses such as Creative Computing, Music Technology 3 and Performance Technology. This is a quite complex operation that is unlikely to be completed before 2006.

My initial approach is to be two-fold. Like many software packages, Jitter can be used as an out-of-the-box processor, using patches that have been previously created - sort of presets - or it can be used to create those patches. One of the difficulties with these two extremes, is that one allows you to do exciting things, but without understanding how they work, the other allows you to do rather dull, basic things, but will help you to understand the processes in some detail. Different approaches will be appealing to different people in different ways, and we'll try and allow the greatest flexibility, while encouraging investigation into all areas.
